Art Lab

Kunsthaus GaS acts as a nucleus for a new kind of art production, event conception, and above all as a laboratory for intensive research in the independent art and culture sector.
Every year, several residencies are advertised for artists from various disciplines. Communication between the different media is particularly important to us. Dance, visual arts, and music are central areas in the ongoing work, but new media in particular have taken on an increasingly important role, as have literature and contemporary circus.

The residencies often result in presentations that are open to the public, and events are usually preceded by intensive periods of laboratory-style work. Spatial and regional themes, as well as current events, are therefore part of the artistic consideration.

The act of creation in the moment is the central focus and becomes a contemporary witness in the artistic work.
