Material, Resonance and Perception
How does material respond to touch, movement, sound or time? What traces do bodies and gestures leave behind — and what emerges when a work enters into resonance with its space and with those who encounter it?
(RE)SONANT MATTER brings together twelve artistic positions spanning painting, graphic art, photography, sculpture, ceramics, installation, sound, film and poetry. Throughout Kunsthaus Urhof20, images, objects, language and sound encounter one another: earth and ceramics meet textile structures, photography meets painting, bodily experience meets filmic memory.
Material is not understood here as something static. It carries traces, responds, changes and sets processes in motion. Some works invite contemplation; others can be touched, moved or brought into sound.
The exhibition is both a showcase and an experiential space. It brings together works by artists who continuously shape the Kunsthaus with invited positions and artistic developments from the 2026 programme. In this way, an open space emerges in which resonance is not only the subject of the exhibition, but can arise between the works, the building and its visitors.

DIE.PUNTIGAM · Painting & Graphic Art
Rotor
With Rotor, Die.Puntigam presents his 2026 annual exhibition in the foyer of Kunsthaus Urhof20. Layers of colour, line and graphic structures create pictorial spaces in which overlaps, densities and open areas remain visible at the same time.
The title evokes movement and recurrence — something rotating that never returns to exactly the same point. This sense of movement also resonates with his long-standing artistic presence at Urhof20: his distinctive hand shapes not only the exhibitions, but also the design, outdoor spaces and visual communication of the Kunsthaus.
CHRISTINE HAUPT · Textile Installation
Stitched Sounds
With Stitched Sounds, Christine Haupt developed a collective spatial instrument made of suspended fabric panels and sensory fields. Conductive silver threads and textile structures respond to touch, movement and connection.
The installation becomes a space for shared exploration and play. Each field reacts differently — sensitively, unpredictably and changeably — continually generating new relationships between bodies, fabric and space.
DAPHNE VON SCHRADER · Sound / Composition
Stitched Sounds
Daphne von Schrader created the sonic layer of Stitched Sounds. The sensory fields have distinct sound characteristics and respond to touch and movement.
In interaction with the visitors, fleeting compositions emerge — an ever-changing weave of body, material, movement and sound.
MARION ALEXANDER · Painting
Marion Alexander creates painterly spaces of resonance between colour, surface and material. Different layers of colour and material overlap, enter into relation with one another and generate their own vibrations in the tension between density and openness.
DIANA LAUER-FEILER · Photography
Diana Lauer-Feiler explores the traces of social structures and patterns of behaviour in everyday life. In (RE)SONANT MATTER, she turns her attention to the ways expectations and social influences inscribe themselves onto the body and become visible through photography.
FRANZISKA MÜLLNER · Painting
Franziska Müllner explores density, gesture and pictorial space. Movement, trace and painterly energy inscribe themselves into the material, giving rise to images that become resonant bodies in their own right.
MARTIN BUDISCHOWSKY · Ceramics & Dorodangos
Contemporary Ammunition
Martin Budischowsky works directly with earth, water and time. His compacted and polished dorodangos make matter tangible as a resonant body between the hand and natural process.
In Contemporary Ammunition, these condensed bodies encounter ceramic forms, shells and snail shells. The works move between natural form, transformation and concentrated craft — between density, protection and preservation.
RAPUNZEL BRÄUTIGAM · Sculpture & Ceramics
Rapunzel Bräutigam works with casts of female bodies, translating them into fragmented porcelain reliefs. Concave and convex forms are divided and reassembled.
Body and material leave traces; fragments detach from their original context and enter into new relationships.
CLAUDE LEEB · Ceramics & Poetry
Claude Leeb combines poetry with ceramic objects, interweaving language and form. Between word and matter, a dialogue emerges in which meanings appear, condense and slip away again.
LUCA MALINA · Installation / Ceramics & Sound
IDO – Ton im Ton
With IDO, from the project Ton im Ton, Luca Malina explores the relationship between ceramics and sound. Freely suspended elements made from different clays form a resonant body that is set into vibration by wind, touch and movement.
Visitors can bring the installation into sound themselves — resonance becomes immediately physical and audible.
ELKE HITTINGER · Ceramics
Im Resonanzraum der Elemente
In Im Resonanzraum der Elemente, Elke Hittinger explores the four elements of fire, water, earth and air. A column, elemental bowls and works in the Raku technique speak of transformation, energy and balance — and of the forces of nature meeting within the material.
Clay is not only shaped, but becomes a carrier of transformation itself: fire, water and air leave their traces and make the process of creation visible.
AARON BECK · Sculpture
Seele-Säule
In his current project Seele-Säule, Aaron Beck develops sculptures through a multi-stage casting process. Initial forms are created in clay, continued through silicone and wax, and translated into ceramic casting moulds that can ultimately also be used for pouring hot metals such as bronze.
For (RE)SONANT MATTER, the exhibition presents the first coloured and polished cement sculptures, alongside traces and stages of this evolving process. The work appears consciously as something in becoming — between form, imprint, translation and material transformation.
Existing metal sculptures by Aaron Beck in the courtyard and garden extend the presentation into the outdoor space.
Filmic Resonances
Selected film documentation and fragments from performances created throughout 2026 are shown on screens — including works that emerged in connection with immersive and installative situations.
They carry past movements, encounters and processes back into the space, connecting memory and the present. Performance appears not as a concluded event, but as something that leaves traces and continues to resonate in other forms.
The exhibition opens on Friday, 16 October at 7:00 pm and is open on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00–7:00 pm as an open space for encounter and experience.
(RE)SONANT MATTER is a concentrated moment of bringing things together — an exhibition in which different artistic voices, materials and processes meet, transform one another and continue to resonate.
