MØNTAGE CAMP

August 7–16 2026

MØNTAGE CAMP is a ten-day art and research camp dedicated to electronic sound art, sound-based practices, cross-media improvisation, and performative formats. Throughout the camp, the house becomes an open laboratory where artists from diverse disciplines come together to research, experiment, fail, and develop new work collectively.

The camp’s roots lie in the Vienna-based series Klub Montage, which for several years facilitated collective real-time compositions and open improvisation formats. From this practice emerged a curatorial and methodological foundation centred on open collaboration, experimentation, and collective learning.

Practice · Process · Performance

At the core of the camp is shared artistic practice:
daily sessions, self-organised formats, workshops, discussion spaces, and open improvisations. Participants bring their own instruments, tools, and artistic approaches, developing both individual and collective works.

The week culminates in a public presentation evening, conceived as a performative assemblage that makes the artistic research processes of the camp visible and experiential.

NEW IN 2026: Resonance · Body · Appropriation

In 2026, MØNTAGE CAMP expands its focus towards the body, movement, and performative sound practices, inspired by the annual theme (RE)SONANT MATTER.
Planned elements include a dedicated movement group, body- and space-oriented improvisation formats, and a thematic focus on plunderphonics and artistic appropriation, situated between sampling, appropriation art, and critical sound practices.
